Privacy Policy

How we handle your information on this website: what we collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have.

Effective date: August 28, 2026. This policy replaces all earlier versions.

Who We Are

This website, scheerlegal.com, is operated by Dominic L. Scheer, PLLC, doing business as Scheer Legal, a Florida law firm ("Scheer Legal," "we," "us"). Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to dom@scheerlegal.com or (305) 699-2161.

Information You Provide to Us

When you use our contact form, email us, or call, you choose what to share with us. Typically that includes your name, email address, phone number, and a description of your legal matter. Contact form submissions are processed by our website hosting provider on our behalf and delivered to our office email.

A note specific to law firm websites: contacting us through this site does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information you send before we have agreed in writing to represent you may not be protected by attorney-client privilege. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive details through the contact form; share those in a consultation instead.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, we and our service providers collect certain technical information automatically:

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard log data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps, used for security and site operation.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and collects information about how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser characteristics). We use this only to understand site usage and improve content. Google processes this data as our service provider; Google's practices are described in its own privacy documentation. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
  • Fonts. This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests those font files from Google's servers, which necessarily receive your IP address.

Videos on this site are either hosted on our own servers or embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. For embedded videos, a preview image is loaded from YouTube's image servers with the page; the YouTube player itself, and any cookies it sets, load only if you press play. Once playing, Google/YouTube may collect data as described in Google's privacy policy.

How We Use Information

  • To respond to your inquiry and, where an engagement follows, to provide legal services.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the website and understand which content is useful.
  • To comply with applicable law and the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, including records we are required to keep.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with: service providers who process it on our behalf (website hosting, form processing, analytics, and email services) under confidentiality obligations appropriate to the service; and courts, regulators, or other parties when the law requires it or when reasonably necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Retention

Inquiry records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond and to satisfy our professional-responsibility obligations, including conflict-of-interest checking. Client file retention is governed by our engagement agreements and Florida Bar rules. Analytics data is retained per our Google Analytics settings and then deleted or aggregated.

Your Choices

  • You can browse this site without submitting any personal information.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site works without them.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics as described above.
  • You can ask us what contact information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to records we must keep by law or Bar rule) by emailing dom@scheerlegal.com.

Some browsers send "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals. This site does not engage in the kind of cross-site tracking those signals are aimed at.

Children

This site is directed to adults and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we use commercially reasonable measures to protect information transmitted through it. No method of internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, which is one more reason not to send sensitive details through the contact form.

Third-Party Links

This site links to third-party platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy does not cover them.

Visitors From Outside the United States

This site is operated from and directed to Florida, United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

Changes to This Policy

When we change this policy, we will update it here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page for a reasonable period.
