Send Us the After-Work. We Do Not Compete With You.
You finished the case, the decree, the return, or the closing. Your client now needs something you do not do. Referring it well makes you look good, keeps the client in your orbit, and gets the work done by someone who will call you back when it is finished.

Quick answer: Scheer Legal handles the work your clients need after your engagement ends: estate planning and asset protection after a personal injury settlement, special needs trusts and minor's settlements, estate plan updates after divorce, business succession and general counsel after a transaction, and probate when an estate must be opened before a wrongful death case can move. We do not take personal injury referrals away from injury firms, we do not do family law, and we do not prepare tax returns. Every referral gets a same-week consultation, a note back to you when the work is done, and your client returned to you for the next matter. Bilingual, flat fees, one attorney.
The best referral relationships we have work the same way. A partner at an injury firm calls after a large settlement because the client has minor children and no will. A family lawyer sends over a client whose final judgment is three weeks old. A CPA sees a client's balance sheet change and knows the entity documents are ten years stale. A financial advisor has a client with a trust that was never funded. None of them wants to do this work. All of them want it done by someone who will not poach the client. That is the arrangement.
What we do for your clients
Personal injury firms
Post-settlement estate plans, incapacity documents, special needs trusts before disbursement, guardianship of the property and court-approved trusts for minors' settlements, second opinions on proposed structures. And when a wrongful death case needs an estate opened before it can move, we handle the probate side so your case can proceed.
The post-divorce plan: new will and trust, power of attorney, health care surrogate, beneficiary audit reconciled against the judgment, deed work, guardian and trustee designations that keep the former spouse out of the children's money.
Trust funding and restatements, entity cleanups, operating agreements that match the estate plan, buy-sell agreements, succession planning around a business sale or liquidity event, and the asset protection conversation you would rather not have alone.
Moving the house into the trust after closing, Lady Bird deeds, entity formation for investment property, and contract review when a deal needs a lawyer the title company cannot be.
We do not take personal injury cases from firms that refer to us; an injury client you send for planning is your injury client. We do not practice family law, so a client you send us for a post-divorce plan is not going to be asked about a modification. We do not prepare tax returns or give investment advice, and we will tell your client to call you for both. Where a referred matter touches your practice, we copy you or stay out of it, whichever you prefer, and we put that in writing at the start.
How a referral works
You send the client's name, a sentence about what they need, and whether you want to be copied. Email or a phone call. Spanish-speaking clients are welcome; Dominic works in both languages.
We run a conflict check and offer the client a consultation the same week.
The client gets a written flat-fee quote after the consultation. No dollar figures are published, because every plan is quoted on its facts.
When the work is done, you get a short note saying so, and the client is told to call you for anything in your lane.
For injury firms: opening the estate for a wrongful death case
In Florida a wrongful death action is brought by the estate's personal representative, so an estate has to be opened before the case can move, and a personal representative has to be appointed before anyone can sign a release or a settlement. Many injury firms would rather not run a probate. We open the estate, get the personal representative appointed, handle the court approval of the settlement where required, and set up the trusts for minor survivors, on a schedule that fits your case rather than the other way around. We are in Broward, and we take these across Miami-Dade and Palm Beach as well.
Why a boutique?
Because the client meets the lawyer who does the work, the fee is fixed in writing, and the plan is done in weeks, not quarters. Your client's experience with us reflects on you. We know that, and it is the reason the note comes back to you when the file closes.
Referral fees: where a matter is one on which Florida permits a division of fees between lawyers, we follow the rules on that and put the division in the client's written agreement. For non-lawyer professionals, there are no referral fees, and we would rather earn the next one by doing the work well.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will you try to take my personal injury client?
No. An injury client you refer for estate planning or a special needs trust is your injury client. We do not solicit injury work from referred clients, and we tell them to call you for the next accident.
Can you open a probate estate so my wrongful death case can move?
Yes. We open the estate, obtain the appointment of the personal representative, handle court approval of the settlement where required, and set up trusts for minor survivors, on your case's timeline. Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
Do you work with Spanish-speaking clients?
Yes. Dominic practices in English and Spanish, and every page in this section has a Spanish version for your clients to read.
How fast can a referred client be seen?
The same week, after a conflict check. Where a settlement is about to be disbursed and a special needs trust or minor's guardianship is involved, sooner, because the timing decides everything.
Do you pay referral fees?
Between lawyers, only where Florida permits a division of fees and only as set out in the client's written agreement. To CPAs, advisors, title companies and other non-lawyers, no.
What do you send back to me?
A short note when the work is done, and the client, with instructions to call you for anything in your practice area. If you want to be copied on the engagement, say so and we will.
Send us the after-work.
A name, a sentence, and whether you want to be copied. We take it from there and send them back.
